For freelancers

Receipt tracking for freelancers who’d rather be doing the work

When you work for yourself, every software subscription, laptop and coffee-shop meeting is a possible deduction, and a receipt you’ll need to find next April. BookFlash reads each receipt for you and keeps it in one place, so tax time is an export, not a scavenger hunt.

Start your books, free 10 receipts a month free. No card needed.

Sound familiar?

Receipts live everywhere

Some are in your inbox, some are PDFs in Downloads, and some are crumpled in a bag. None of them are together when you need them.

Subscriptions add up quietly

Design tools, hosting, storage and project apps renew every month. It’s easy to lose track of what you paid and what you can deduct.

Tax season is a lost weekend

Rebuilding a year of spending from bank statements takes hours, and anything you can’t back up with a receipt is harder to claim.

Receipts worth keeping

Expenses that are commonly deductible for freelancers, when they’re ordinary and necessary for your business.

Software and subscriptions
Tools you use for client work, such as design, writing, accounting and cloud storage apps.
Computer and equipment
Laptops, monitors, cameras and other gear. Larger purchases may need to be depreciated rather than deducted all at once.
Home office
Only for space used regularly and exclusively for business. The IRS simplified method allows $5 per square foot, up to 300 square feet.
Phone and internet
The business-use share of your plan, not the personal part.
Professional fees
Accountants, lawyers and other professionals you pay for your business.
Advertising and your website
Domain names, hosting, portfolio sites, ads and business cards.
Business travel and meals
Travel away from home for work. Business meals are generally only 50% deductible.
Coworking and office rent
Desk or office space you rent for your business.

How BookFlash helps

  1. 01

    Snap or upload it

Take a photo of a paper receipt or upload a PDF or image. JPEG, PNG, WebP and PDF all work.

  2. 02

    AI reads the details

BookFlash pulls out the vendor, date, amounts and sales tax, and suggests a category such as Software & Subscriptions. You can change it.

  3. 03

    Export at tax time

See your spending by month, category and vendor, then, on Pro or Business, download any period as a PDF or CSV for your accountant.

Common questions

Is BookFlash free for freelancers?
Yes. The Free plan includes 10 receipts a month with AI reading and reports. Pro is $9.99 a month for 150 receipts plus PDF and CSV export, and Business is $29.99 a month for unlimited receipts.
Does BookFlash connect to my bank?
No. You add receipts by taking a photo or uploading a file. That keeps your receipts, which are the proof the IRS asks for, in one place.
Can I give my accountant access?
BookFlash is a single-user account, but on Pro or Business you can export any date range as a PDF report or a CSV file and send it to your accountant.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Open bookflash.app on your phone and add it to your home screen. It opens full-screen like an app, with no app store needed.
