For contractors and trades
Receipt tracking for contractors who work out of a truck
Supply-house tickets, lumber-yard receipts and gas-station slips pile up on the dashboard. They fade, they get wet, and they’re gone by tax time. BookFlash turns each one into a record the moment you get it, right from your phone on the job site.
Sound familiar?
Receipts fade and get lost
Thermal paper from the supply house can be unreadable in months. A photo taken on the day is a much safer record.
Materials blur together
Without a record of each run to the store, it’s hard to know what you spent on materials in a given month or quarter.
No time for paperwork
After a long day on site, sorting receipts is the last thing you want to do. It needs to take seconds, not an evening.
Receipts worth keeping
Expenses that are commonly deductible for contractors, when they’re ordinary and necessary for your business.
- Materials and supplies
- Lumber, fixtures, fasteners and other materials you buy for jobs.
- Tools and equipment
- Smaller tools can often be deducted right away. Larger equipment is usually depreciated over several years.
- Vehicle costs
- Either the standard mileage rate or your actual costs (gas, repairs, insurance), for the business share of use. Not both.
- Parking and tolls
- Deductible for business trips, even if you use the standard mileage rate.
- Licenses and permits
- Contractor licenses, business licenses and job permits.
- Business insurance
- General liability and other insurance for your business.
- Subcontractors
- Payments to other contractors. You may need to file Form 1099-NEC for the people you pay.
- Safety gear
- Protective equipment such as hard hats, boots and eye protection. Everyday clothes don’t count.

How BookFlash helps
- 01
Snap it at the counter
Take a photo before the receipt goes in your pocket. It’s saved to your books, even if the paper is lost later.
- 02
AI reads the ticket
BookFlash reads the store, date, total and sales tax, and suggests a category. You can change the category before you move on.
- 03
Totals when you need them
See spending by month and vendor, and on Pro or Business export any period as a PDF or CSV for your bookkeeper.
